While it sounds a bit too early, as several previous leaks pointed to an October launch, the date does aligns with a recent 9to5Mac’s report which saw the event happening in mid-September.

The Wall Street Journal and Bloomberg also have now corroborated with a few of their own sources and are now claiming that September 9 is indeed when the next iPhones will be unveiled. As for the date, September 9 is an auspicious day for the Cupertino giant. The company had previously launched a new lineup of iPods on the same day back in 2009. At this point we are not sure if Apple will launch other devices as well. The company is supposed to release iOS 8 and Mac OS X Yosemite to the public this fall. The fall falls on September 23rd, so it is a bit early. We understand that the company may hold another event sometime later this year. The company is also expected to launch its first smartwatch sometime this year. At the Code event earlier this year, Apple SVP Eddy Cue claimed the Apple’s fall product pipeline as the best he’d seen in his 25 years at the company. So there’s that as well. If Apple does launch its new iPhone on September 9, this is what you can expect at the event.

1.Two iPhones: Numerous reports and dummy mockups have suggested that Apple will launch two new iPhones this time. Both the iPhones will sport larger screen. One will have 4.7-inch display, while the other one is slated to bring a 5.5-inch screen. 2. Sapphire Display: As MKBHD’s video showcases, the iPhones will have Sapphire display — making the screen impossible to break by humans — unless breaking it is the sole purpose of your life, in which case, nothing is unbreakable. 3. Curved Display: Some reliable rumors have also suggested that the iPhones will have curved display. But we are not sure if that something Apple will implement in its lineup. Other OEMs, including LG has done it before in its Flex handset. 4. Better Camera: The company recently hired Ari Partinen, the chief of camera in Lumia smartphones. What this all suggests that Apple too assort better camera on its phones. There are rumors that the new iPhones will have compatibility with smartwatches and that it will be priced higher by few hundred dollars. Only time will tell if that is indeed true. Until then, stay tuned.
