As per the leaks and listings, here’s everything we know about the upcoming smartphones under the Mi CC series from Xiaomi.
The relevance of Xiaomi’s Mi CC series
With the all-new CC series, Xiaomi is aiming to target the selfie-centric audience, majorly, the youth. And therefore the name, CC — Camera + Camera. With an increase in the number of smartphone manufacturers shifting their focus on improving cameras on their smartphones, especially the front-facing camera, and the recent acquisition of Meitu (a selfie app maker) from Xiaomi, this move from the Chinese OEM is not surprising at all. As the kind of reputation it has gotten over the years reflects, Xiaomi has continuously made efforts to offer the best of the offerings at a significantly lower price point. And with the CC series, it is trying to pull off just that. Interestingly, the company had earlier launched the Redmi Y series in India and other Asian markets precisely for the same reason. While Redmi isn’t yet a separate brand outside of China, we need to see if the Mi CC series come to India.
Xiaomi Mi CC9
Design and Display
The TENNA listing for M1904F3BT confirms that the Mi CC9 will feature a 6.39-inch AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels and an under-display fingerprint sensor. It is expected to come in a wide range of color options to choose from, including Black, Red, Blue, Pink, White, Green, Purple, and Gray.
Hardware
At its core, the smartphone is expected to be powered by a 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 octa-core processor, with three RAM + internal storage configurations: 4GB + 64GB, 6GB + 128GB, and 8GB + 256GB (expandable up to 256GB with microSD card). The listing also suggests a 3940mAh battery on the smartphone, and Android 9 Pie running out of the box.
Camera
In terms of optics, the Mi CC9 is expected to sport a triple camera setup on the rear with a 48MP primary shooter. And a 32MP camera on the front, for selfies.
Xiaomi Mi CC9e
In addition to the Xiaomi Mi CC9, the TENNA listing also suggests a few specifications for the other variant, the Mi CC9e. As per the listing, the smartphone (model number M1906F9SC) is expected to feature a 6.08-inch display (type – unknown) and a 3940mAh battery, similar to the Mi CC9. The listing also suggests the smartphone running on MIUI 10 based on Android 9 Pie out of the box.
Xiaomi Mi CC Series Expected Price
According to a few leaks and rumors, the Mi CC9 will start at 2499 Yuan for the base variant and the Mi CC9e at 1599 Yuan for the base variant.
Xiaomi Mi CC Series Launch Date
The specifications for the upcoming Mi CC series do not come from Xiaomi. Instead, they are entirely based on the leaks, rumors, and the latest listings from TENNA. So, it might be possible that the details provided in this article might be different than the launched product. However, one thing that stands certain is the launch date for the series, slated July 2, in China. As for other countries, there is no information on the launch of the CC series in other parts of the world. So we might have to wait until July 2 or maybe even further, to hear from the company.
