Motion Stills lets you fiddle with Live photos and lets you freeze the background and also create short videos with a cinematic pan. Unlike iOS Google Photos lets you export the Live Photos and also share it with folks who don’t use iPhone (or iOS). However, Google Photos 2.0 is not all about the Live Photos editor and it also heralds with a bunch of other new features including an easier way to share the videos on the YouTube app and also improvements on the performance front. The Motion Still uses an advanced algorithm that uses linear programming to create GIF animations by stitching the GIF animations fetched from the photo bursts. The algorithm computes the virtual camera path and further optimizes the same to recast the videos and bursts which appears as if it has been shot using a professional stabilization equipment. The update will now also let you sort the photos in albums chronologically and also lets you choose a new thumbnail for faces in People. Google reassuringly adds that this feature is also coming to Android soon. The Google Photos 2.0 update is already up on the app store and can be downloaded.
