2015 Lenovo X1 Carbon
Lenovo is refreshing the X1 Carbon ultrabook with Intel’s latest 5th-generation Broadwell processors which should deliver slightly better CPU performance, better GPU and longer battery life (10 hours of battery life). The lower-resolution screen has been bumped to 1920×1080 from 1600×900. The Ultrabook also comes with a slightly larger battery, moving from 45 to 50 watts, which represents a 10 percent improvement. There have been made improvements to the keyboard and the click pad, as well. The new Lenovo X1 Carbon also comes with a PCIe-based SSD which should offer up to 80% faster storage performance than standard SSDs. Lenovo claims it is the “lightest 14-inch Ultrabook around”, but the laptop weighs the same 2.87 lbs (1.3kg) as the previous generation. Its price starts at $1,250 and moves up as you choose more storage or more RAM.
2015 ThinkPad laptop lineup from Lenovo
While the ThinkPad X1 Carbon upgrade was the most important one, Lenovo has refreshed other products under its ThinkPad portfolio. The X, T, L and E series laptops have been upgraded with a 5th-gen CPU, as well. The new Broadwell-equipped laptops will go on sale next month. Thus, the 12.5-inch ThinkPad X250 will get improved battery life, as well as a non-touch, full HD panel option. The laptop will start shiping in February at a price of $1,149. Also, the 14-inch ThinkPad T450, just like the ThinkPad E450 and the ThinkPad L450, will get the same upgrades.
New ThinkVision X24 monitor
Lenovo has also announced the new ThinkVision X24 computer monitor priced at $250 with an appealing design. The ThinkVision X24 is 7.5mm at its thinnest section and comes with a 1920×1080 resolution with HDMI and DisplayPort inputs. Judging from pictures, the chromed out exterior with a pre-coated metal case sure looks impressive, so if you’re in the market for a monitor that impresses your guests and makes your work environment more pleasant, consider this as your next purchase.
New ThinkPad line of accessories
Lenovo has also announced a new line of accessories that attach to each other via magnet, called ThinkPad Stack. Lenovo is taking an original an unusual approach that might prove to be useful for consumers. A magnetized interlocking design allows multiple Stack accessories to take up less space and work together thanks to a proprietary technology. There’s a 10,000 mAh Power Bank for charging phones and tablets, a 1 terabyte USB 3.0 Hard Drive, a Wireless Access Point and a Bluetooth Speaker pair. What’s really cool is that ff you plug in only one of the accessories to charge, it will charge all of the others that are attached to it. The entire set of four devices will cost $310 but the Bluetooth speaker alone will cost $89
