The option for recording calls on Truecaller needs to be enabled inside the settings. There’s a new “Call Recording” menu which lets you turn the feature on and even specify whether you’d like to manually begin the tapping for each call. The recordings can be found through a new option in the navigation bar located on the left edge. Sadly, though, call recording is part of the company’s Premium subscription. However, you can try it out for fourteen days before spending.
The majority of recent features Truecaller has rolled out have been for its premium customers. A few days ago, the caller ID service added the ability for users to check profiles of whoever viewed their Truecaller information. In addition, you can also pay utility bills and do recharges through the Truecaller app by linking your UPI account. To try the new call recording feature on Truecaller now, you’ve two options. You could either enroll in the beta program and update the application from the Play Store. Otherwise, you can also simply sideload the APK file which can found here. If you’re concerned about privacy, you should know that Truecaller has specifically mentioned the recordings are stored locally and are not being synced with their online database. Being the third most grossing communications app, this could also lead to the end of third-party call recording apps especially in Truecaller’s most active markets such as India. Of course, how Truecaller will make their users aware of these features remains to be seen since a lot of them never go past the setup process.
