With the existing update cycle of OnePlus, the company introduces two new smartphones each year. However, that is soon going to change this time around as the company is expected to introduce a 5G-enabled smartphone along with a few other variants including the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro. The information for the upcoming OnePlus 7 Pro comes from a renowned leaker, Ishan Agarwal, on Twitter. According to one of his recent tweets, the OnePlus 7 Pro is expected to feature a Quad HD+ Super AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 90Hz, USB 3.1, 4000mAh battery with a 30W warp, dual speakers, and a triple camera setup on the rear. Adding further, in another tweet, he mentioned that the launch will take place simultaneously in New York, Bangalore, and London on May 14.
— Ishan Agarwal (@ishanagarwal24) April 17, 2019 Taking into consideration the above-mentioned leaks, some of the interesting things with the features on the upcoming smartphone include:
OnePlus’ first attempt at a Quad HD+ Super AMOLED, which is a significant upgrade from the 1080p panel that the company has been offering till now. A 90Hz refresh rate display. Although this is not the first time a company has come up with such a high refresh rate display, it is interesting to see how the company is trying to offer more improvements each year. A triple camera setup on the rear with a wide-angle lens and a telephoto lens, which has been teased for quite some time now, and as per the current trend in smartphones, is being adopted by a lot of manufacturers.
Apparently, the standard non-Pro variant of OnePlus 7 will continue to come with a Full HD+ display with waterdrop notch and dual rear cameras, similar to the OnePlus 6T, while the OnePlus 7 Pro will get most of the bells and whistles. According to the current leaks and rumors, the launch date for the OnePlus event is slated as May 14. However, there is no official word from the company on the official launch date. Irrespective of which, if the rumored date is to be believed, we are still around a month away from the launch, which could end up in more leaks and renders of the device. Stay tuned for further updates.
