The biggest highlight of the new processors is the fact that they are now compatible with two rear camera sensors. Both of them support up to a pair of 8-megapixel lenses. For single arrangements, the Snapdragon 439 can power a 21-megapixel snapper, while the Snapdragon 429 is limited to 16-megapixel. The Snapdragon 439 supports a maximum resolution of Full HD+ and the Snapdragon 432, HD+. Performance upgrades are largely marginal on these new processors especially in the case of the Snapdragon 439. For starters, it has the same mix of CPU and GPU as before — Adreno 505 and eight Cortex A53 cores. The difference between the 439 and its predecessors is the higher 1.95GHz clock speed on the performance cores and 1.45GHz on the efficiency ones. The Snapdragon 429, on the contrary, has a quad-core Cortex A53 CPU with a clock speed of 1.95GHz. However, the Snapdragon 429 comes with the Adreno 504 GPU which results in an upgrade of nearly fifty percent as far as graphics are concerned. Both of them, on paper, offer a performance uplift of twenty-five percent. The modems are identical as well — the Snapdragon X6 LTE in either case. Both the Snapdragon 429 and Snapdragon 439 now also have native support for Dual VoLTE which will allow you to run two LTE networks simultaneously. In addition to that, the duo is compatible with the majority of leading machine learning frameworks including the company’s own Neural Processing SDK, Android NN, TensorFlow, and more. Devices with the Snapdragon 429 and 439 are expected to arrive in the next couple of months (H2 2018).
