The Mi portable electric mosquito repellent is a compact circular device that comes with a Micro USB slot and as a result, can be connected to a regular power bank to keep mosquitos away on the go. It weighs only 25 grams and apparently, doesn’t feature an inbuilt battery to work on its own. Additionally, it takes in a repelling mat which can be placed inside a tiny slot accessed by twisting the appliance 90-degrees. Xiaomi mentions that the device is dust-proof and utilizes PTC Low-voltage thermostat as the core component.

The repellent can last up to 15.7 hours constantly if powered by a 10,000mAh power bank and 28.2 hours if a 20,000mAh one is used. Xiaomi has priced it conveniently at 29 Yuan (~US $4 / Rs 290.) and is now available to purchase in China. The product looks definitely worth the cost and will mainly attract adventurers looking for a portable solution to mosquito problems. However, the science behind this isn’t foolproof yet (as we discussed in our post on LG’s televisions with Mosquito away technology). Xiaomi recently also unveiled a foldable electric bicycle – QiCycle that works Torque Sensing Technology and Panasonic’s 18650mAh lithium battery with a working range of roughly 45 Kilometers. Moreover, they also launched a drone not long ago that can shoot 4K aerial videos but costs only $460 which is even cheaper than DJI’s Phantom 3. Sadly, these interesting products are not available globally, we do hope the company releases them soon enough in other markets.
